Once the client has installed the software and the account has been activated then
a selection of directories can be targeted for backup and a schedule for the backup
is established. This schedule will be used to initiate a full backup of all the
information currently located on the client’s computers.
After the full backup, the software toggles automatically into incremental mode
and will back up new and changed information only at the time selected.
|
|
Ninety five percent of the need for data restorations occur when a file or directory
has been accidentally deleted or corrupted. The client can either pull down a file
tree of their archives or can enter a file name or directory into a search field
if the name of the item is known. When the information is located the client can
bring that information back to the local computers.

In the days before the availability of broadband and the Wide Area Backup service,
tape was the most commonly used means for backing up company data. Not only was
the process labour intensive and prone to error, but backing up to tape did not
assure that the data was stored away from the business location. The Wide Area Backup
service, by it’s very nature automatically secures company data in a high
security data centre from a full range of risks.
