The use of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is set to "increase dramatically", it has been claimed. Research by Grant Thornton suggests implementation of the business telecoms tool will consolidate and increase substantially by 2010, reports callcentre.co.uk. Sarika Patel, head of technology for the firm, claimed: "VoIP is no longer next generation, it is here", while also reminding businesses privacy is still "a concern" for the telecoms service, the source adds. The website claims global revenue generate by the e-commerce utility will reach around £13.5 billion over the next two years, according to research. Meanwhile, figures released by Infonetics show a 54 per cent increase in revenues for VoIP in 2007, reports teleclick.ca. The research states there are 75 million users of the system worldwide, 26 per cent of which are businesses, the source adds. Around 41 per cent of those using the service are expected to be business-related by 2011, the website concludes.
