The VoIP market enjoyed strong fourth quarter growth, a new study has shown. Research by Dell'Oro Group revealed that the carrier IP telephony industry grew by almost ten per cent in the three months, taking its collective value to £783 million (£480 million).
Several firms in the sector enjoyed double digit growth during the quarter, the study stated. Greg Collins, vice-president for Dell'Oro Group, said that business IP telephone is a hot area. He commented: "Enterprises as well as small and medium businesses increasingly embrace IP Centrex, unified communications and IP business trunks (or SIP trunks), and investment in equipment to support these services offers service providers attractive near-term returns and thus, has been a boost to the market." The Dell'Oro Group Carrier IP Telephony Quarterly Report details issues such as average selling prices, manufacturer revenue, shipment figures, session border controls, voice application servers and media gateways in the telecoms and IT industry.
