The maturity of server virtualisation has played a part in its increasing popularity, an expert has said. Chris Bone, enterprise products and solutions specialist at Fujitsu, made the comment in relation to firms investing in this as the economy picks up, call centre bosses may be interested to hear. He said that despite this, only ten per cent of total server infrastructure is virtualised. Mr Bone added that that acceleration of this technology will come when companies that have put their money into it give it a more central role. He explained: "A lot of organisations who invested in virtualisation technologies for development and test will start to move them into mainstream production." A recent report by Fujitsu, which also runs the iexpectmore.co.uk business impact website, revealed that 61 per cent of IT professionals questioned felt that their firm's infrastructure needs to be more flexible in order to deal with the downturn, it may interest call centre executives to learn.
