US market gives hope for UK hosted services

The UK call centre sector has been given hope by news that the US market continues to grow despite the recession.

Research from Frost and Sullivan found that the US industry is becoming increasingly competitive.

The reduced budgets offered by the host call centre model are noted as being a reason for this trend.

Michael DeSalles, strategic analyst for Frost and Sullivan, said that hosted services have been successful during the economic downturn.

He commented: "Hosted technology providers offer a compelling set of financial and business benefits to a demanding client base. This includes the elimination of capital expenditures combined with access to a flexible agent deployment platform."

The report showed that this part of the call centre sector earned $396.4 million (£237.892 million) last year, with this expected to rise to $1.5 billion by 2015.

Earlier this week, Teleperformance EMEA was recognised for its work in the consumer care sector with an award at the Customer Contact Association's Excellence Awards 2009.
