Some major UK companies have put remote call centre networks in place. Phil Flaxton, chief executive for Work Wise, said that the recession ahs resulted in firms implementing "smarter working". He explained that larger companies have tended to adopt this technology earlier, citing reports that telecoms giant BT has 77,000 flexible members of staff. Mr Flaxton added: "The AA has got I think 250 virtual call centre operators. "Rather than going to a call centre as traditionally one would think of a call centre, they have got people working from home so that when somebody breaks down the call is answered by someone sitting in their house." The employment expert also said that banks are looking into remote working. Earlier this week, the Confederation of British Industry released it's the Shape of Business - The Next 10 Years report. The study suggested that remote operating could help businesses over the next decade.
