Online shopping for holidays is going from strength to strength, according to one industry expert.
People find the process easy, says Kayte Williams, holidays manager with travelsupermarket.com.
The internet is compared by Ms Williams to saving a page in a tourism brochure, with all the information necessary to book a trip abroad readily available.
In this way, booking a break need not be a chore at the end of a busy day at work, the tourism sector representative explains.
The growth in online shopping for holidays looks set to grow further as consumers grow more comfortable with making purchases over the web, Ms Williams comments.
"As more and more people become comfortable with making large purchases online there's a definite trend in growth in that area," she says.
Some 58 per cent of respondents to a recent poll by Ciao Surveys named the internet as their preferred method of booking holidays.
