The majority of UK companies have no contingency preparations for data loss, according to new research.
A study by Kroll Ontrack shows that 65 per cent of British enterprises have no budget set aside for data recovery, despite the fact that 90 per cent of corporations have had to recover data after an unexpected incident in the past 12 months, reports Computer Weekly.
While legacy data emerged in the study as the most likely method to be employed by firms to back up data, the report points out that these processes are not regularly checked by about 62 per cent of IT sector members.
The study is released as a poll of IT professionals and C-level executives by SteelEye Technology reveals that about 87 per cent of people think that threats to business continuity have mounted further in the past year.
Strategies such as voice disaster recovery and other business continuity processes have become necessary as technology grows in importance to the average British enterprise, the company states.
