The use of latest telecoms equipment can help businesses increase profits, it has been claimed. Gareth Limpenny, chief executive officer (CEO) for Jelly Communications, stated by giving workers BlackBerry smartphones, a firm may be able to gain a "competitive edge". He added: "It enables you to stay in contact with your customer and respond quickly and effectively to any queries that they may have." Mr Limpenny went on to say by being contactable both in and out of the office companies are showing they are "customer focused". The CEO also claimed there are fears over whether some small firms would be able to put a mobile telecoms system in place as many do not have an IT department, possibly leading to the need for guidance from an outsourced communications specialist. Recently, the group conducted research into 50 small companies which found 68 per cent said the use of telecoms technology such as BlackBerry handsets enabled them to responded to customer enquirers more quickly.
