The growth of VoIP has resulted in security firms looking for ways to protect users of this telecoms service, it has been claimed. Salare Security says that one way of doing this is through its vPurity product. According to the company, this protects clients from the risks associated with VoIP that require mitigation. It said: "The explosive growth of the VoIP market, has compelled security vendors to look for solutions to harden VoIP installations for their clients." The firm states that the software prevents the theft of information through the identification of data payload through a transmission. This is achieved without deep packet inspection, with the company explaining that this removes concerns regarding individual privacy. Meanwhile, a recent report from the European Union has claimed that Europe has more broadband users than the US, which could have an affect on levels of VoIP uptake. The report also suggested that Europe has more mobile broadband subscribers than anywhere else in the world.
