There should be little disruption for firms when they implement new telecoms services, an expert has suggested. Jon Arnold, replying to a question on searchunifiedcommunications.techtarget.com, said that when deploying IP telephony there should be "no change in behaviour needed". He explained that this is due to extensions, features, phone numbers and other factors being carried over to the new system. However, he went on to say that there can be some positive changes as a result of moving to IP telephony, such as the introduction of technology like video conferencing and mobile integration. The expert commented: "This is a more ambitious migration plan, but delivers a richer, multimedia communications environment." Mr Arnold added that firms switching their telecoms to VoIP can also benefit from ad-hoc conferencing and visual voicemail.
