A major call centre event is kicking off this weekend. On Saturday (November 14th) Talking Tayside Contact Centre Week will begin. The event will focus on all things consumer care, running until November 20th. Debbie Baird, chair of Talking Tayside, said that the week offers an opportunity for people to learn about the sector. She commented: "This is a great industry to work in, with good incentives and benefits and career opportunities with companies such as Tesco and HBoS and government agencies such as HMRC and Jobcentre Plus." Talks from organisaitons such as Jobcentre Plus will focus on working in the call centre industry. Numerous employment opportunities will be on offer throughout the week, giving jobseekers the chance to begin a career in customer care. Seven workers at a BT call centre in Liverpool will be glad that they got into the consumer service sector, as they have just scooped a UK record £45.5 million as part of a workplace lottery syndicate.
