The call centre support offered by specialist PC manufacturers is superior to that offered by large suppliers, a new report indicates.
A survey of 10,000 computer owners published by Consumer Reports found that companies such as Apple and Lenovo topped the list of customer satisfaction specialists, reports Call Centre Focus.
Some 83 per cent of respondents who owned laptops gave positive feedback on Apple's phone IT support compared to 81 per cent for desktop owners.
Meanwhile, the help provided by Lenovo's call centre satisfied 66 per cent of laptops owners, with Dell pleasing 60 per cent of this demographic.
An article in E-consultancy last week suggested that e-contact centres may help companies handle customer requests for out-of-stock products.
The publication advised emailing consumers with alternative item details or alerting them via an e-contact centre when their desired product is back in stock.
An alternative strategy could be referring companies to places where the product can be purchased offline, the web magazine recommended.
