Web financial services facilities were used by about a third of UK consumers in January, a new report indicates.
Figures published this week by comScore suggest that 33 per cent of the British population, or 10.9 million people, used at least one web banking account in the first month of 2008.
The popularity of NatWest made the Royal Bank of Scotland the most successful provider, with the brand representing two million of the 2.9 million e-commerce customers with the group.
But Lloyds TSB led the list of the most popular financial e-commerce brands, registering 2.8 million customers who visited their website an average 6.8 times each in January.
The report has been published after eMarketer predicted that balance requests on mobile phones are to lead increased adoption of such technology in the US financial services sector.
According to comScore, HSBC and the Halifax Bank of Scotland Group received some 2.4 million customers each during the month, with Barclays Bank registering some 1.7 million e-commerce clients.
