Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that embrace mobile communications are more likely to enjoy better business relationships, a new survey has indicated.
According to a study by Research In Motion (RIM), four in five SME entrepreneurs say mobile communications have made setting up new businesses easier and cheaper.
Many entrepreneurs said that because they were out of the office at least twice a week, the ability to contact clients on the road was a key plank in building successful business relationships.
Charmaine Eggberry, managing director at RIM, said: "The research shows that mobile solutions are key to the success of SMEs in the UK and across Europe.
"Adopting the right tools and procedures from the beginning are key to long-term success."
She went on to say that investments in mobile technology will "scale up" in line with business growth.
A recent survey by Office Angels found that employees who are equipped with Wi-Fi access, a Blackberry device or mobile phone are working an equivalent 20 extra days a year.
