Graduates in the UK are turning to call centres for employment, according to a source. The credit crunch has resulted in a "desperately tough jobs market", thisismoney.co.uk reports. This means that university leavers are looking elsewhere for employment, with call centres being an area to benefit. Liane James, a media production graduate, told the news provider that she has been working in a consumer care complex for Dyson. She said that she did have some preconceptions about the job when she first joined, however, she has since progressed from a telephone advisor to a customer service administrator. Recruiters Hays told the website that it has seen the number of applications for call centre jobs listed on its online portal treble during the last year. Elsewhere, the Herald recently reported that around 190 new customer care jobs are set to be created in Scotland by retail firm John Lewis as part of its call centre overhaul.
