The implementation of superfast broadband technology is not being taken seriously by the government. This is according to Edd Dawson, editor of broadband.co.uk, who suggested that there is frustration among people who want this equipment rolled out in the UK, which could improve access to online telecoms services such as VoIP. He said: "There is no joined-up thinking in this country when it comes to it, compared to others. It's not taken seriously by government. "Lip service is being given to it at the moment but there is no serious desire from government to sort it out. That is where the serious issue lies." Mr Dawson added that there are no "decent policies" from any of the political parties being put forward at present to address this issue. The government is currently committed to rolling out 2Mbps broadband access throughout the UK by 2010 thanks to the measures outlined in the Digital Britain report.
