Businesses could boost their economy of scale by using cloud computing services, it has been claimed.
Adam Bosnian, vice president of products, strategy and sales at Cyber-Ark, said that almost any firm could benefit from implementing this technology, which could include overhauling telecoms systems and putting unified communication in place.
He commented that this is the case as the majority of data centres suffer from wasted resources.
The expert explained: "In effect, many server disks are spinning, being powered, air-conditioned and supported when no data is actually being stored on them."
"With the cloud, the reverse is true, with only a small minority of server/disk resources having no data stored on them."
According to a recent study by Logicalis, web 2.0 is the top technology focus area for chief technology officer and chief information officers in 2010.
Cloud computing took second place in the research, followed by the use of virtual desktops.
