Remote working can be a good thing for workers and the companies that employ them, one sector practitioner has said.
Brian Higton, chairman of the Telework Association, commented that the practice is exceptional in its ability to offer benefits to both employer and employee.
The advantages of pursuing remote working for enterprises were said to include minimised office space requirements, reduced fixed operating costs, heightened staff retention rates and improved flexibility in labour deployments.
And the workforce tends to appreciate the elimination or reduction of commuting time, as well as improved work-life balance and reduced stress, he added.
"Homeworking is relatively unique in that when properly adopted, it can benefit both employer and employee," Mr Higton maintained.
His comments followed those of Dave Vernon, from the Professional Planning Forum, who told Call Centre Focus that call centres could improve their customer satisfaction rates by embracing flexible working practices.
