This year will see an increasing number of firms move to cloud computing, an expert has suggested. Rob Lovell, chief executive officer for ThinkGrid, said that this is because more small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs), such as those operating call centres, will realise that they can benefit from doing so. He explained that one perk presented by moving to the cloud is paying for IT services, such as those required to run call centres, on a monthly basis, rather than shelling out with a large initial investment. Mr Lovell added: "Most business are running pretty lean at the moment, with responsibility for IT often falling to the person in the office who has shown they understand it the best. "Getting rid of the IT management burden will be a real positive for SMBs in 2010." Last month, a report by Analysys Mason claimed that cloud computing has become an attractive option during the downturn.
