Cloud 'can help call centres in poor weather'

11/01/2010 09:06:17

Call centres can continue operating during spells of poor weather if they move to the cloud.

This is the view of Rob Lovell, chief executive officer at ThinkGrid.

He said that many firms have suffered in the last few weeks because of the heavy snowfall in the UK and the knock-on effect this has had on staff getting to work.

Mr Lovell commented: "It's very important for businesses to think about how they react to such things happening.

"If you enable people to work and do the things they were doing when they were in the office…then productivity won't be impacted."
He added that productivity may even be improved, as some call centre workers may operate better at home than in a traditional consumer care complex facility environment.

A recent study by employment law firm Peninsula found that 44 per cent of workers in the UK have stayed at home because of the recent snowfall.
