A worldwide business telecoms meeting was underway today, according to a source. The ITU Telecom Asia 2008 exhibition is being held in Thailand and runs between September 2nd and 5th, reports nationmultimedia.com. As part of the exhibition there will be forums, displays and presentations, all held within a 15,000 sq ft Impact Challenger Exhibition and Convention Centre, the source states. It is expected around 180 companies will be present, with 97 speakers from 250 countries, the website adds. There are 110 seminars on issues such as business telecoms and telecoms development planned for the event, the source concludes. Meanwhile, in other telecoms news, Irish group Eircom has today announced a new price structure which could result in a 50 per cent increase in business calls, reports the Belfast Telegraph. The newspaper states the firm will now charge a connection fee and then a price by the second, potentially increasing costs for business telecoms users.
