Britain is falling short when it comes to broadband, an expert has claimed. Roger Darlington, member for England at the Communications Consumer Panel, said that while much of the country is connected to an Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line, there is still work to do before everyone can access the net and services such as VoIP. The expert, who is also chairman of the Westminster eForum keynote seminar the Future of Broadband in the UK, commented: "We still fall very far short of what most of us envisage as a real broadband-enabled nation. "We need to remember that a quarter of homes in this country are still not connected to the net at any speed." Mr Darlington added that there are still key issues to be tackled for the successful rolling out of new broadband technology, such as who will drive uptake among businesses once the equipment has been put in place. The Westminster eForum keynote seminar the Future of Broadband in the UK took place in London earlier this week.
