The decision by telecoms giant BT to increase the number of homes and businesses it will serve with its high-speed broadband is a good thing for the UK, it has been suggested. Mark Jackson, editor-in-chief for ISPreview.co.uk, commented that the announcement from BT earlier this week is "undoubtedly a positive move for the country", users of online telecoms services such as VoIP may be pleased to hear. He said: "It will mean an additional 1.5 million, or a total of 2.5 million, new homes and businesses will now have access to download speeds of up to 100Mbps." Mr Jackson added that the development of this technology is crucial when it comes to keeping the UK's infrastructure at the forefront of future internet technology. Earlier this week, BT revealed that it is to increase the number of homes and businesses that its new super-fast internet connections will reach, with this figure rising to around 2.5 million.
