Call centre jobs have been saved thanks to a consumer care facility switch. The 150 operator positions at Alliance and Leicester in Leeds are being transferred to Bradford. Nigel Cotgrove, national officer for the Communication Workers Union, said that measures are even being put in place to ensure that employees are not left out of pocket. He explained that additional travel expenses incurred by the 150 call centre members of staff will be paid for the next three years. Mr Cotgrove added: "We are aware that this move will cause difficulties for some members and so we have ensured that the bank will be sympathetic to requests to change attendance patterns to deal with travel problems or caring commitments." The switch will see call centre workers move between consumer care complexes next February. In other industry news, the National Customer Service Awards took place earlier this week, recognising the great and the good of the call centre sector.
