Almost 1.5 million homes are missing out on business telecoms services as they have not switched to broadband internet, a study has shown. Research carried out by Broadbandchoices.co.uk has revealed 1.48 million homes across the UK are using dial-up connections rather than faster broadband lines. This means they are unable to access business telecoms utilities such as voice over internet protocol (VoIP). Michael Phillips, product director for the research group, said: "With some dial-up packages you are effectively on a pay-as-you-go rate which some people find more straightforward and there is also no minimum contract term." Consumers and businesses were urged by Mr Phillips to switch to broadband so they can enjoy faster speeds and services such as VoIP. Meanwhile, a VoIP business telecoms integration system has been launched this week. Under the scheme a trixbox Unified Agent Edition logs all of Salesforce.com's inbound and outbound calls, removing the need for manual input, reports pr-inside.com.
